39th Annual Art-in-the-Park

Art In The Park Saturday, June 15, 2013 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. 39th Annual Art-in-the-Park Saturday, June 15th (rain date: June 22nd) The 39th annual Art-in-the-Park will be held in the serene setting of Allentown’s oldest city park, West Park, 16th & Turner Sts. on Saturday, June 15th 10AM-5PM. Art-in-the-Park features original works of art by 80+ local and regional artists. Prize money is awarded to each category: watercolor, graphics, oils & acrylics, photography, and 3D (pottery, wood, jewelry, glass, fabric, sculpture). Free spaces are also given to student artists in grades 9-12. This year’s judges are William Childs, the Creative Director at the Morning Call Media Group and Tanya Delucas, Art Director at the Morning Call. During Art-in-the-Park, enjoy performances at the Victorian band shell by The Allentown School District Orchestra Program, a talented group of ASD students, at 10AM, The Repertory Dance Theatre, a variety of lively dance performances by local students, at 11:30AM, The Allentown Band, the oldest civilian concert band in the United States, at 1:30PM, and new this year from Brooklyn, New York, (sponsored by Ryan Henriquez and Saleem Saab), The Four O’Clock Flowers, featuring string master Ernie Vega and vocalist Samoa Wilson performing stark versions of country blues, gospel, old time, and jazz classics, at 3:15PM, and The Down Hill Strugglers, whose music is infused with old time feeling and freewheeling energy present in the true diversity of American Folk Music, at 4:15PM.
