Roots to River Farm
Roots to River Farm is a first year farm, managed by Malaika Spencer. Malaika shared her farming passions and challenges in a video featured this week  on PhillyBurbs.com. This week you can enjoy the fruits of Malaika's labor. She'll be offering a colorful harvest of midsummer goodness including lettuce, salad mix, kale, arugula, sweet peppers, hot peppers, summer squash, cucumbers, beets, carrots, dandelion greens, eggplant, heirloom tomatoes, ground cherries, cherry tomatoes, string beans, melons, cabbage, fennel, scallions, spring onions, potatoes, basil, dill, cilantro, and other culinary herbs.
Market Meals
Market Meals offers a line of ready-to-eat dinners and sides like roasted chicken, duck, BBQ ribs, wings, mashed potatoes, rice and beans, chard, kale and collards. Ingredients are purchased from local farms like Stryker, Taliman, Weaver Valley, Great Bay, Freebirds Epicurious and Pekin Paradise. And Market Meals uses BPA-free retherm bags so you can just boil the bag!  No muss, no fuss, no dirty roasting pans, no cooking - just delicious full meals in under 20 minutes. And their special vacuum chamber sealer removes 99.5% of the oxygen, so meals stay fresher, longer.

National Farmers' Market Week
August 4th-10th

It's National Farmers' Market Week and with more than 8,100 farmers' markets nationwide there is definitely cause for celebration! In fact Pennsylvania ranks 6th for the highest number of markets. Cities across America are realizing recognizing the power a market has to transform a community and nowhere is that felt more strongly than here in Easton. In fact, today we'll welcome The Urban Land Institute for a "Food as Revitalization" tour of downtown Easton! We'll be sharing our grassroots story with visitors from Philadelphia and beyond. The USDA released an interesting graphic this week, detailing the food chain reaction from a farmers' market. Check it out at the bottom of this e-update.
